Raman Spectra Library
Raman Databases
Recently, Raman spectroscopy has been increasingly used in different studies to determine the molecular composition of a substance (gas, liquid, or solid) without dissolving or destroying it. The Raman spectrum occurs when a substance is irradiated with a monochromatic light in the ultraviolet or visible range. As a result, the molecules of the substance under study polarize and scatter the light. The frequency of scattered light differs from the frequency of the original radiation by an amount that corresponds to the frequency of normal vibrations of the molecules. The individuality of this characteristic determines the high selectivity of the Raman spectroscopy method.
Raman spectrometry is a powerful tool for analyzing and monitoring the chemical composition of materials. Each compound has its own unique Raman spectrum. Therefore, it is necessary to have a library of Raman spectra for successful use of the method. RamanLife's collection of Raman spectra is the result often years of work by our team of spectroscopists. Substances for its compilation have been collected from more than a hundred organizations, including chemical laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, andforensiccenters.
